The Florida Gators played no games on Saturday against Miami, defeating them by a final score of 22-10.
The 2026 college baseball season has been a fun one for Florida Gators fans thus far.
On Saturday, the team faced off against the in-state rival Miami Hurricanes in an NCAA Regional matchup. What happened throughout the course of the game showcased clear dominance from the Gators.
When all was said and done, Florida took care of business by a final score of 22-10.
Right off the bat, it was clear that the Gators meant business. By the end of the fifrst inning, they led the Hurricanes 6-1. Miami pulled to within 6-4 at the end of the top of the third inning and were tied 8-8 after the top of the fifth, but what happened next was rough.
Florida scored seven runs in the bottom of the sixth inning and never looked back.
Karson Bowen, the starting catcher for Florida, led the way with two home runs and five RBI. Another big performance came from shortstop Cade Kurland, who ended the game with two home runs and four RBI.
All game long, it was clear that the Gators were playing at a different level from what Miami could produce. They didn't play with their food.
Following the dominant blowout win over the Hurricanes, Florida now holds a 41-19 record. The Gators are also ranked as the No. 8 team in the country.
Next up for Florida baseball will be a matchup with the winner of the Miami vs. Troy game on Sunday. It's possible the Gators will get a second crack at facing off against the Hurricanes.
Beating a team once is one thing. Being able to beat them in consecutive matchups is another. Florida showed off what its capable of doing on Saturday, but there is more work for the Gators to do to reach their ultimate goal.
If Florida can continue playing at the level it showed against the Hurricanes on Saturday, the sky is the limit. However, the Gators simply need to focus on one game at a time as they move forward.
