A Florida Gators coach opened up on one of the team's top transfer additions.

The Florida Gators put together a very impressive transfer portal haul this winter, landing 29 player to counteract the 34 players they lost.

Florida was ranked 12th in On 3's transfer portal rankings, indicating just how tremendous of a job new head coach Jon Sumrall did.

Perhaps the most intriguing addition the Gators made was former Auburn wide receiver Eric Singleton, who actually spent the first two years of his career at Georgia Tech before transferring to Auburn ahead of 2025.

Now, Singleton has taken his talents to Gainesville, and Florida wide receivers coach Trent McKnight is thrilled about the acquisition.

"Eric's a really smart player," McKnight told 247 Sports. "I think he's quiet, but he's very smart. He goes about his business the right way. I think everything he's done right now, he's a pro at how he's going about it. Obviously, he has elite speed. We've looked at the portal really the last two years. I've probably watched most of the receivers that have been in there, and there's very few that can run as fast as Eric can."

Unofficial reports have clocked Singleton's 40-yard dash time in the 4.20-4.29 range, which is the best you can get.

Singleton has been an incredibly productive player throughout his entire collegiate career, as well.

The former three-star recruit hauled in 48 receptions for 714 yards and six touchdowns during his freshman campaign at Georgia Tech in 2023. He then caught 56 passes for 754 yards and three scores in Year 2.

During his lone season at Auburn in 2025, Singleton snared 58 balls for 534 yards while reaching the end zone three times.

The Gators lost eight wide receivers to the portal over the winter, so it was certainly important for them to restock the position.

They were able to nab five wide outs in the transfer portal, and they also have the dynamic Vernell Brown returning for his sophomore campaign.

Of course, Florida's quarterback play will be the determining factor here. The Gators landed former Georgia Tech signal-caller Aaron Philo, and he is expected to start in 2026. Considering he is entirely unproven, how he performs remains to be seen.
