Jon Sumrall and the Florida Gators continue to light it up on the recruiting trail.

When Jon Sumrall took over as Florida Gators head coach back in late November, there was genuine excitement considering how much success he had experienced at both Troy and Tulane.

However, the SEC is an obviously an entirely different ballgame, so many questioned just how Sumrall would handle the increase in competition.

While we have yet to see Florida on the field under Sumrall, we have seen the Gators becoming a force in terms of roster-building.

Sumrall put together a tremendous transfer portal haul over the winter, so much so that On 3 placed Florida ninth in its transfer portal rankings. He also convinced key players like running back Jadan Baugh, wide receiver Vernell Brown and edge rusher Jayden Woods to stay in Gainesville.

Additionally, Sumrall has been a dynamo on the recruiting trail thus far, and over the weekend, he struck again, securing a commitment from four-star 2027 wide receiver Anthony Jennings.

The six-foot tall, 165-pound Jennings is nicknamed "Speedy," so you can already understand the type of receiver he is.

Jennings is the 34th-ranked wide receiver and the 273rd-ranked player overall in the class of 2027 and had received a whopping 39 offers in total, which included Auburn, Florida State, Georgia, Indiana, LSU, Miami and Tennessee.

The Gators have already nailed down eight commitments for 2027, including five-star offensive lineman Maxwell Hiller. They have also bagged four four-star players, with 6-foot-7 quarterback Davin Davidson among them.

Florida went just 4-8 last season and has posted four losing campaigns over its last five years, so it has been a rough half-decade in The Swamp.

Once one of the top football programs in the country, Florida has faded into relative obscurity in recent years, but Sumrall is aiming to turn that all around, and as quickly as possible, too.

One thing is for sure: the Gators are definitely back on the map as far as attention goes, as Sumrall seems to be in the news cycle pretty consistently.

We'll see if the 43-year-old is able to experience the same type of success in Gainesville that he had at his prior stops.
