The Florida Gators have added a talented receiver to their 2028 class.
Jon Sumrall is continuing to have an impact on the program as the Florida Gators have landed four-star wide receiver Armani Strong.
Strong has committed to Florida over Miami, USC, Notre Dame, and Michigan.
"No zone safe, no corner safe," Strong said. "The Swamp just got more explosive!! Committed, let's go!"
The Gators made a major change to the program, firing head coach Billy Napier midseason and bringing in Sumrall to take over. Sumrall had a ton of success over the last four years with Troy and Tulane.
Sumrall led Troy to a 23-4 record over two seasons, then went to Tulane, finishing 20-8 and reaching the College Football Playoff.
He was then hired by Florida, bringing a track record of success over to the program. With better resources, he has been able to land several top recruits, as the Gators hold the 10th-best 2027 recruiting class in the nation per 247 Sports.

While the future is bright for Florida, the 2026 season could be a challenge for Sumrall in his first year as the head coach. The Gators are coming off a 4-8 season and will have challenging opponents in the SEC.
A lot of Florida's success will hinge on the production from the quarterback position. There is a battle for the starting spot between Georgia Tech transfer Aaron Philo and redshirt freshman Tramell Jones Jr.
Philo is the favorite to win the starting spot, as he is familiar with the system, with Buster Faulkner coming over from Georgia Tech as the offensive coordinator.
Philo doesn't have a ton of in-game experience, as he completed 59 of 102 passes (57.8 percent) for 938 yards, two touchdowns, and three interceptions across two seasons. He also rushed for 95 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries.
Although the Gators' success in the 2026 season is uncertain, the future of the program looks strong with Sumrall in charge, landing recruits like Strong.
