This Florida Gators star has revealed a bold take on the team's quarterback conundrum.

The Florida Gators do not yet know who will be taking snaps for them in 2026.

The general consensus is that Aaron Philo is the favorite, but Tramell Jones certainly appears to have a chance to steal the starting job this offseason.

Quarterback is arguably the most important position in sports, so while Florida definitely has some impressive talent up and down the roster, if the Gators can't get this figured out, nothing else will matter all that much.

The good news is that Philo and Jones both seem to be making a great impression thus far in the spring, and wide receiver Vernell Brown in particular loves what he is seeing from the duo.

"I mean, they all elite, you know? They all are what you would want a quarterback to be," Brown said. "They put that time in, they always here extra, we watch film, just doing different things, having conversations about different plays. Like, hey, what can I do different on this? Or, you know, just them craving that critiquing in us, having a conversation because at the end of the day, we got to have a connection. And then they're very personable people off the field."

Florida acquired Philo — a redshirt sophomore — in the transfer portal, poaching him from Georgia Tech. Because new Gators offensive coordinator Buster Faulkner was also Philo's offense coordinator with the Yellow Jackets, the fit made sense.

Meanwhile, Jones is a former three-star recruit who just completed his freshman campaign in Gainesville, completing 21 of his 35 passes for 191 yards and a couple of touchdowns.

Brown arrived in the Swamp last year and caught 40 passes for 512 yards, displaying tremendous speed and tantalizing overall potential.

Florida's receiving corps should definitely be fun to watch in 2026. Not only is Brown back in tow, but Dallas Wilson should be healthy for next season, and the Gators landed some intriguing weapons — including former Auburn receiver Eric Singleton — in the transfer portal.

The Gators went just 4-8 last season and are hoping to restake their claim to glory — or at least relevance — in the loaded SEC.
