The Florida Gators have been given a strong chance to take down Missouri this week.
After knocking off Ole Miss last week, the Florida Gators will be entering into their matchup against the Missouri Tigers feeling very confident.
Florida has started the season 4-0, kicking off the Jon Sumrall era in a strong way, while earning more respect around the country. The Gators have wanted to get back to being in the national conversation for years, and so far, Sumrall has helped them do just that.
But as the team prepares for the Tigers, they do have to be aware that this could be a trap game. Coming off a massive win over Ole Miss, the Gators will need to make sure that they keep the same energy for Missouri.
After the game with Missouri, Florida will be taking on the South Carolina Gamecocks at home. The Gators then get the major tests of the season, facing both the Texas Longhorns and Georgia Bulldogs in back-to-back weeks.
Missouri comes into this game with a record of 3-1, and they are ranked No. 25 in the country. Florida is the No. 8 ranked team in the nation, offering them a chance to do even more damage if they can pick up a road win.
Heading into this contest, the Gators are the favorites to win, with the team trying to add to its resume. ESPN has given Florida a 70.2 percent chance to take down the Tigers, showing real faith in this group.
The Gators will again lean heavily on star running back Jadan Baugh, who has generated a ton of Heisman Trophy buzz this season. On the year, Baugh has rushed for 600 yards and 11 touchdowns through the first four games of the season.
If Baugh can continue this performance against Missouri, the Gators will have another strong chance to win. Baugh is arguably the most electric player in the country, and Florida is very happy to have him on the roster.
But the Gators will also need quarterback Aaron Philo to continue playing well if they want to keep the undefeated season alive. Philo has thrown for 917 yards with seven touchdowns and two interceptions so far this year.
Florida brought Philo in over the offseason, despite his limited experience at the college level. But Philo has played well, surprising many people across the country with his ability to control the Gators' offensive attack.
Kickoff between the Gators and Tigers is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. PT/3:30 p.m. ET from Faurot Field at Memorial Stadium in Columbia.
