Florida Gators head coach Jon Sumrall has revealed the injury report before the team's Week 2 game against Campbell.
Following the Florida Gators' Week 1 win over Florida Atlantic, the team is now gearing up for its Week 2 matchup with Campbell.
In Jon Sumrall's debut, the Gators were able to come out strong, giving the head coach his first win in his tenure. But the Gators aren't allowing the win to get to their heads, understanding that Campbell awaits them.
Ahead of the game, Sumrall has revealed the injury report for the Gators. Florida is dealing with a few different injuries that could impact availability on Saturday.
Wide receiver Eric Singleton Jr. has been listed as "highly questionable for the game against Campbell. Singleton suffered an ankle injury in the season opener for Florida, just seven plays into the contest.
Another wide receiver, Davian Groce, missed the game against Florida Atlantic. Sumrall has confirmed that he will miss the upcoming game against Campbell due to a back strain.
Tight end Evan Chieca also missed the Gators opener due to a lower-body injury. Sumrall said that he is progressing, but he wasn't sure if he would suit up this coming weekend.
“Chieca’s more and more and more, so he’s getting more,” Sumrall said. “We’ll see what that means for this weekend, but he’s back doing more, so he’s close.”
Additionally, lineman Emmanuel Oyebadejo is also being listed as "highly questionable", according to Sumrall. The hope is that both players can get back on the field for the contest, but the Gators may elect to take precautions this early in the year.
But there is some good news for the Gators as offensive lineman Eagan Boyer is expected to play against Campbell. Boyer missed the season opener, but the team expects him to practice at full capacity this week.
Cornerback J’Vari Flowers also should be good to go for the game after leaving the team's season opener early with a cramp.
All in all, the Gators are relatively healthy considering where many other teams are right now. Florida won't rush anyone back from injury, taking a long-term approach to everything this season.
Sumrall is looking to build out a consistent winner this season with the Gators, using 2026 as a building block. Florida has the talent to be a sleeper this season if they can stay healthy, but for now, the program will take things one day at a time.
The Gators will kick off against Campbell at 2:30 p.m. PT/5:30 p.m. ET from Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in Gainesville.
