Surpassing Tim Tebow’s scoring pace, the freshman sensation fueled a 302-yard rushing onslaught to dismantle No. 4 Ole Miss and ignite Florida’s sudden College Football Playoff charge.
Running back Jadan Baugh wore down the Rebels. He rushed for 142 yards and three touchdowns against Ole Miss' defense. Running back Duke Clark had a breakout game, adding 126 yards and a score.
In total, the Gators rushed for 302 yards and six touchdowns over Ole Miss, gashing the defense of Rebels head coach Pete Golding.
Per ESPN insights, Baugh made history for the Gators on Saturday. He became the fastest Florida player to earn 10 rushing touchdowns in a single season. Baugh did so in his fourth game for the Gators this season.
The previous record belonged to Florida legend Tim Tebow, who rushed for 10 touchdowns in seven games during the 2027 season. Tebow would go on to earn 23 rushing touchdowns that season.
If he hadn't before, Baugh has officially entered the Heisman Trophy conversation with a statement game against the No. 4 Rebels. He entered the game with 458 yards and eight touchdowns on 54 carries.
Baugh had an incredible performance last week against Auburn, when he rushed for 162 yards and three touchdowns on 26 carries. There was no slowdown for Baugh against an Ole Miss that kept LSU to 172 total rushing yards last week (quarterback Sam Leavitt accounted for 63 of those yards).
Baugh is one of the key reasons the Gators are in the College Football Playoff conversation heading into October. The No. 21 Gators earned a signature win on Saturday, and they look like they can compete with any team in the country.
Tim Tebow praised Jon Sumrall.
Before the game, Tebow praised Sumrall for how he's turned around the Gators in his first season. Sumrall is a coach that inspires his players and makes them want to play for more.
The Gators have lacked that element ever since Urban Meyer left the program. Sumrall brought energy into the program, and his players have bought into the program.
Florida's next challenge is to avoid the pitfall that Ole Miss walked into this week after a big win. The Gators will regroup and go on the road to play a dangerous No. 19 Missouri in Week 5.
