The Florida Gators have been searching for wide receivers after losing seven of them in the transfer portal, and they just scored a major win in that category.
Florida has secured a commitment from former Auburn Tigers wide receiver Eric Singleton Jr., marking the third, and by far the most significant, receiver Jon Sumrall has added in the portal this winter.
Singleton marks the second four-star transfer the Gators have bagged in a group of 18 additions, with the other being former Georgia Tech tight end Luke Harpring.
Funny enough, Singleton and Harpring were teammates at Georgia Tech in 2024. Singleton began his collegiate tenure with the Yellow Jackets in 2023 and spent two seasons there before transferring over to Auburn last year.
Singleton made an immediate impact upon hitting the NCAA level, catching 48 passes for 714 yards and six touchdowns during his freshman campaign. He followed that up by hauling in 56 receptions for 754 yards and three scores in 2024.

Of course, Singleton's rough showing with the Tigers had a whole lot to do with their quarterback situation and how he was utilized.
The 5-foot-10 speedster — who has totaled 2,002 receiving yards this far in his career — registered 14.1 yards per reception over his two seasons at Georgia Tech, so clearly, he has big-play potential.
Florida had been looking for another explosive receiver to put alongside of Vernell Brown III, who logged 40 catches for 512 yards as a freshman this year.
Sumrall still has his work cut out for him in Gainesville, as the Gators have watched 31 of their players defect for the transfer portal this winter.
Florida hired Sumrall as its head coach back in late November. Sumrall had previously served as head coach of Troy and Tulane, spending two years at each program. He went 43-12 overall, with his best season coming in 2025 when he led Tulane to an 11-3 record and a CFP appearance.
The Gators went just 4-8 this past season and have posted losing records in four of their last five campaigns.
