Former Florida Gators star quarterback Anthony Richardson has made it onto the Indianapolis Colts' 53-man roster despite rumors of a trade or release.
Richardson was the fourth overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft by the Colts, but has struggled in his professional career thus far. With Indianapolis moving on with Daniel Jones as the starter, Richardson requested a trade this offseason, but he remains on the Colts roster for the time being.
Across 17 career games in the NFL, Richardson has completed 50.6 percent of his passes for 2,400 yards, 11 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions while rushing for 634 yards and 10 touchdowns.
The 24-year-old has struggled to be an efficient passer in the NFL, but he has a ton of talent, which he showcased during his time with the Gators.
In the 2022 season with Florida, Richardson completed 53.8 percent of his passes for 2,549 yards, 17 touchdowns, and nine interceptions. He added 654 yards and nine touchdowns on 103 carries.

Richardson is entering the final year of his rookie deal, making him a free agent in 2027. If Richardson is traded at some point during the season, he could look to have a Malik Willis career revival.
Willis started his career with the Tennessee Titans but was traded to the Green Bay Packers, where he played well as a backup, filling in for Jordan Love when he was out. Willis played at a high level, earning a starting job and a big contract with the Miami Dolphins when he hit free agency.
Richardson has a ton of talent, and if he lands in a similar spot that Willis did, he could develop into a quality starting quarterback in the NFL.
The former Gators star has a ton of potential, but he is set to be a backup for a second straight season, whether he remains on the Colts or is traded to a new franchise.
