Former Florida Gators star tight end Kyle Pitts was expected to be an NFL superstar following his college career. He entered the professional level as the No. 4 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Unfortunately, things have not turned out quite as expected for Pitts.
After entering the league with a ton of hype surrounding him, the talented tight end has failed to live up to the lofty expectations. He has played solid football, but he has yet to become a star at the NFL level.
With that being said, Pitts will have a chance to change teams during the offseason. He will become a free agent and could end up choosing to leave the Atlanta Falcons.
Keeping that in mind, a new future outlook has been shared for Pitts with potential free agency destinations being named for him.
USA Today's Tyler Dragon took a look at the best possible landing spots for Pitts this offseason in free agency. He believes that the best fit for Pitts would be the Washington Commanders.
"The Commanders have questions at tight end," Dragon wrote. "Zach Ertz’s future is uncertain with the 35-year-old entering free agency while recovering from a torn ACL. Pitts would provide the Commanders with a younger and more explosive replacement."
Since entering the NFL, Pitts has played in 78 total games over the course of five seasons. He has racked up 284 receptions for 3,579 yards and 15 touchdowns.
At 25 years of age, he still has plenty of time left to get his career back on track.
Pitts will likely have quite a few potential suitors to choose from this offseason. He will likely receive interest from the Falcons, who still look like a good fit for him. However, a change of scenery into a new offense could do him well.
Even though Pitts has been gone from the Florida football program for quite some time, fans are still rooting for his success in the NFL. He will be a name worth keeping a close eye on as free agency gets underway.
