This former Florida Gators star has been linked to a major potential NFL trade.

Former Florida Gators quarterback Anthony Richardson has certainly not found it easy adjusting to NFL life.

Richardson was selected by the Indianapolis Colts with the fourth overall pick of the 2023 NFL Draft and played just four games during his rookie campaign due to injuries.

Then, in 2024, Richardson was pitiful in 11 starts, throwing for 1,814 yards, eight touchdowns and 12 interceptions while completing just 47.7 percent of his passes. He was even briefly benched in favor of Joe Flacco.

Richardson proceeded to lose his job to Daniel Jones to start 2025, and now, it's looking more and more like the 23-year-old will be finding a new home soon.

The Colts could potentially trade Richardson this offseason, and ESPN's Louis Riddick has identified what he feels is the best possible destination for him: the Kansas City Chiefs.

"Remember back when I was with the Philadelphia Eagles, and we signed Michael Vick when we had Donovan McNabb. Many people thought, 'Why the hell do you need Michael Vick when you have Donovan McNabb?'" Riddick said on ESPN's Get Up. "Andy [Reid] took him because he thought he was a very uniquely talented individual."

The very same Reid is now coaching the Chiefs, but the two situations are awfully different.

McNabb's time was clearly running out in Philadelphia back when the Eagles signed Vick in 2009. In fact, Philly proceeded to trade McNabb the following offseason, clearing the way for Vick to eventually become the starter.

Kansas City certainly isn't doing that with Patrick Mahomes.

However, Mahomes is expected to miss the start of 2026 due to a devastating knee injury he suffered in the latter stages of the 2025 campaign, so while Richardson won't be supplanting Mahomes, he would have the chance to start at the beginning of next season and potentially jumpstart his career.

There is no question that Richardson is talented. He stands 6-foot-4 and weighs 245 pounds with tremendous arm strength and phenomenal athleticism. He is just very raw, and Reid, a known quarterback whisperer, could bring the best out of him.

Richardson spent three seasons at Florida between 2020 and 2022 and never posted eye-popping passing numbers, but his ability as a dual threat and his tantalizing natural talent made him a top prospect.
