Former Florida Gators star Anthony Richardson has found himself at an NFL crossroads.

The Florida Gators have churned out a lot of NFL talent over the years. Recently, there have been none more interesting than quarterback Anthony Richardson.

Richardson started for just one season with the Gators. He didn't play fantastic football, but his physical traits and overall potential were through the roof enough that the Indianapolis Colts selected him with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.

During the one season that Richardson started for Florida, he completed 53.8 percent of his pass attempts for 2,549 yards, 17 touchdowns, and nine interceptions. He also ran for 654 yards and nine touchdowns.

In most drafts, those numbers would not make a signal caller a top-five pick.

Since joining the Colts during that draft, Richardson has failed to develop as the team hoped. He was benched last season behind Daniel Jones and barely saw the field. At this point in time, his NFL future is very much in doubt.

Throughout his three-year NFL career with Indianapolis, Richardson has played in 17 total games. He has thrown for 2,400 yards, 11 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions, while completing 50.6 percent of his passes. In addition, he has picked up 634 yards and 10 touchdowns on the ground.

Needless to say, those numbers are not going to get the job done.

All NFL offseason long, rumors have been swirling around Richardson. Many have expected to see the Colts trade him away, but no deal has materialized yet.

At the end of the day, there is no question that Richardson has the talent to become a starting NFL quarterback. His arm strength is top-notch, his athleticism is elite, and he is capable of being a leader at times.

Unfortunately, he has yet to put it all together.

Plenty of teams have been mentioned as potential landing spots for Richardson. There would be franchises out there with interest in taking a flier on his talent. But, Indianapolis would have to be willing to trade him away for cheap.

Only time will tell what the future has in store for the former Florida standout. For right now, Richardson is fighting for his football career.
