Everyone needs to keep Tim Tebow in their prayers.
Former Florida superstar QB Tim Tebow recently announced that his dad passed away.
Tebow's dad died at the age of 78.
"Atta boy. That's the phrase my dad longed to hear whenever God would welcome him home," Tebow wrote on X. "I believe he heard it loud and clear after decades of serving so faithfully.
"We are so grateful for the prayers, love and support that our family has received. We've really loved hearing story after story remembering my Dad. We will be honoring him and his heart for Jesus and people through a public Celebration of Life service at 10am ET on May 7th at The Church of Eleven 22 San Pablo Campus in Jacksonville, FL.
"In lieu of flowers, our family welcomes anyone who feels led to honor Dad by supporting the work he gave his life to – sharing the Gospel around the world through the Bob Tebow Evangelistic Association (BTEA). Your gift helps carry that mission forward."
Tebow only lasted three years in the NFL, but he's arguably the greatest college quarterback of all time.
Tebow finished his Florida career with 9,285 passing yards, 88 passing touchdowns, 2,947 rushing yards and 57 rushing touchdowns. The lefty won the Heisman Trophy during the 2007 season.
Florida won two championships in the Tebow era.
In 2008, the Gators lost to the Ole Miss Rebels at home in Week 4. It was a disappointing loss for Florida, as the team dropped from No. 4 to No. 12 in the AP rankings.
During his media session with reporters following the loss, Tebow delivered "The Promise" speech. The star QB apologized to Gator fans for the defeat and promised he would lead the club on an exceptional run.
Tebow and the Gators went undefeated after losing to Ole Miss. Florida defeated the Oklahoma Sooners in the National Championship Game, 24-14, in Miami. Tebow fulfilled his promise to Florida and became an icon. His speech was memorialized forever on a plaque outside Florida's stadium. Gator fans will never forget those words.
