Florida Gators head coach Jon Sumrall shared a strong message after the win over the Ole Miss Rebels.
Jon Sumrall has instantly transformed the Florida Gators since taking over as the head coach this offseason. Florida went 4-8 in 2025, and they are now off to a 4-0 start, pulling off a major win over the fourth-ranked Ole Miss Rebels on Saturday.
Sumrall has been successful in every program he has coached, and it's been much the same thus far with the Gators.
After the win over Ole Miss, Sumrall delivered a strong statement, saying that the Gators are here to win a championship and that there's no reason that shouldn't be the expectation every year. Sumrall went on to add that he's not patient and asked why Florida has to wait to compete.
This speaks volumes about how Sumrall has completely changed the program from a year ago. They have already tied last year's win total and have shown they can compete with any program in the country.

It wasn't just a win for Florida over Ole Miss; it was a dominant 52-28 victory. On offense, the Gators ran the ball all over the Rebels, as they rushed for 302 yards and six touchdowns.
They were led by Heisman hopeful Jadan Baugh, who rushed for 142 yards and three touchdowns on 29 carries. Duke Clark also had a great performance on the ground, rushing for 126 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries.
The passing game was efficient, but wasn't relied upon, with quarterback Aaron Philo completing 16 of 23 passes for 196 yards and a touchdown.
The defense also played at a high level for Florida, as DJ Coleman picked off Heisman contender Trinidad Chambliss. Myles Graham also recovered a fumble by Chambliss, which helped the Gators get the win.
Special teams also played a big role in the game, with London Montgomery making an impact as a kick returner, recording three returns for 128 yards, including a 74-yarder. Kicker Patrick Durkin also made all of his kicks, and punter Alec Clark had a 70-yard boot.
Almost everything went right for Florida on all three levels, which speaks to the preparation done by Sumrall and his coaching staff.
With the win over the Rebels, the Gators have put themselves on the map as a contender in college football, and they will look to improve to 5-0 in a matchup against the Missouri Tigers.
