Florida Gators coach Jon Sumrall just dropped a strong message that will win over the fanbase.
Ever since Jon Sumrall accepted the job as Florida Gators head coach back in late November, things have felt quite different in Gainesville.
Sumrall has brought a new attitude to Florida, and it's one that could potentially bring this once-proud program out of the doldrums.
Case in point, Sumrall delivered a strong message while speaking to reporters earlier this week, and while his wife may not like it, Gators fans will.
"It's my wife's 40th birthday and our 15th anniversary this year. We were supposed to go to Italy for spring break and I took this job," Sumrall said. "So, we're going to do something here in the state but, we'll not be going to Italy because I've got too much [expletive] to do."
Definitely an abrasive quote from Sumrall, but the Florida faithful will surely love the dedication to the team.
Sumrall has certainly gotten off to a fast start in The Swamp, putting together a terrific transfer portal haul that ranked 12th in On 3's transfer portal rankings.

The Gators went just 4-8 last season and have posted a miserable four losing campaigns over the last five years, representing one of the worst stretches in the history of the program.
Sumrall has four years of head-coaching experience, splitting his time between Troy and Tulane. He went 43-12 during that span, most recently leading Tulane to an 11-3 record and a College Football Playoff appearance.
Of course, no one needs to tell Sumrall that coaching in the SEC is entirely different animal, which is definitely part of the reason why he is being so stubbornly devoted to his craft this year from the get go.
Florida has a very long way to go before it can re-establish itself as a national power, but perhaps Sumrall will be able to get the school back on the right track.
The Gators will open up against Florida Atlantic on Sept. 5.
