Missouri gave all it could to Florida and Sumrall isn't changing.

The vibes have to feel a bit different for the University of Florida after dropping a tough one to Missouri, losing a game that, while not unacceptable, showed the performance wasn't where it needed to be.

Florida didn't do anything well on either side of the football, which is a concerning sign.

Ultimately, I still believe Florida will be fine, and we have to give it a couple of weeks to see what this team is really all about. After that win over Ole Miss, which showed the talent Florida has on both sides of the ball, I don't think there's any reason to press the panic button just yet.

However, when a loss like that happens, it can feel like changes are needed. For the Gators, that could be as simple as changing things up in practice.

When reporters asked whether that was the case, Florida's head coach had plenty to say, and it might surprise people.

“Yeah, that's a good question, Mike. It doesn't really change. I think just your rhythm you practice with in regards to what each day looks like, it's the same every week, in regards to Monday is your run-through day, Tuesday's the most physical day of the week, Wednesday's another fairly physical day, not as long as Tuesday usually. But the practice schedule doesn't change a whole lot; my approach doesn't change a whole lot.

“The one thing I'd say is a lot of the time when things are going good, I'm probably in the building and everybody thinks I'm grumpy because I'm trying to keep everybody's head level and focused.

"And when things don't go good like last Saturday, you kind of make very direct corrections but try to build confidence back up and help guys understand, "Hey, just because it didn't go good last week doesn't mean we can't respond and do something good the next week. And we've done some good things this year, we gotta bounce back,” Jon Sumrall said.

I'm glad to hear that Sumrall isn't changing anything. Whatever Florida did during the first couple of weeks of this season worked out very well.

We also have to recognize that sometimes teams just get outplayed. Missouri did that on both sides of the ball last Saturday, and we should tip our cap to what the Tigers did.
