As the Gators hunt a season-defining upset, head coach Jon Sumrall challenges The Swamp's faithful to unleash a deafening atmosphere capable of rattling the high-powered Rebels.
The No. 21 Florida Gators have a chance to do something special on Saturday when they host the No. 4 Ole Miss Rebels.
After a 4-8 season in 2025, the Gators have the opportunity to enter the early College Football Playoff conversation with a win over the Rebels, who knocked off then-No. 7 LSU 32-24 in Week 3.
Ben Hill Griffin Stadium should have all 88,548 ready to make life hard on the visiting Rebels.
During an appearance on the "Brandon Walker College Football Show" on Tuesday, Sumrall had a request for Gators fans, asking them to make it an impossible environment for Ole Miss on Saturday at "The Swamp."
“Full disclosure, our FAU game blew me away--opening game. Our FAU game, the crowd, I felt was livelier than what we played on Saturday night (at Auburn),” Sumrall said.
"So, I can only imagine what that’s gonna feel like when you bring a top-five team into this place. Ole Miss is a really good football team. I have a lot of confidence our fan base is going to have a lot of impact on the game.”
The Gators had 90,295 in attendance for their opener against Florida Atlantic in Week 1. 88,863 fans showed up to watch Florida beat Campbell 52-3 in Week 2.
The home crowd should be an advantage for the Gators in Week 4. They'll need to be loud when Florida is on offense, causing some communication problems for Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss, who can take over games on the drop of a dime.
During the summer, Florida running back Jadan Baugh said the atmosphere at the Swamp is like nothing else in college football.
"Every time. Before I even touch campus, I get goosebumps, just because it's different," Baugh said.
"I don't think you'll ever get that feeling nowhere else. Because I've seen it as a recruit, as a fan. I've also seen it as a player now. So being able to get goosebumps in a place like The Swamp, I feel like that's an honor."
Baugh could be the catalyst to get Florida fans on their feet and loud on Saturday. He's had an electric start to the year, rushing for 458 yards and eight touchdowns on 54 carries.
Expect the Gators to lean heavily on Baugh early in the game, setting up Aaron Philo to make big plays with his arm later in the contest as they try to outscore Chambliss.
