The Florida Gators (3-6) face the No. 6 Ole Miss Rebels (9-1) this Saturday in Mississippi. Kickoff in Oxford is slated for 7 p.m. on ESPN. The Gators are now 0-2 under interim head coach Billy Gonzales after last Saturday's blowout loss in Kentucky, where starting quarterback DJ Lagway was benched in the second half. This week's opponent has an interesting angle, as Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin is considered a top candidate to become Florida's next head coach.
Here is everything you need to know about the Rebels ahead of the SEC matchup.
2025 Results: Ole Miss is having one of its best seasons ever under Kiffin, and the program looks poised to make the College Football Playoff for the first time in its history. UM's only loss this year was a 43-35 thriller against Georgia in Athens.
Even losing their starting quarterback early in the season couldn't derail Kiffin's squad, as Division II transfer Trinidad Chambliss has become one of the nation's breakout stars since taking over.
By The Numbers: The Rebels are scoring 37.5 points per game (13th of 136 nationwide), while allowing 19.8 points per game (25th of 136). Despite running back Kewan Lacy leading the country with 16 rushing touchdowns, the Ole Miss run game has yet to break through, with the Rebels overly reliant on their up-tempo passing game. Ole Miss is outgaining opponents by an average of 166.3 yards per game.
Leading Passer: Trinidad Chambliss - 169-for-264, 2,356 yards, 13 touchdowns, two interceptions
Leading Receiver: Harrison Wallace - 36 catches, 579 yards, two touchdowns, 16.1 yards per catch
Leading Rusher: Kewan Lacy - 200 rushes, 912 yards, 16 touchdowns, 4.6 yards per rush
Leading Tackler: Linebacker TJ Dudley - 63 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss
Game Analysis: Everything about this game brings intrigue, making it an apt selection for ESPN's primetime nationwide broadcast. Will Kiffin be playing against his future team? Will Lagway finally break through, or does he end up getting benched again? After two demoralizing losses, are the Gators ripe for a bounce back or have they given up on the disappointing 2025 season?
As for Xs and Os, Ole Miss isn't a horrible matchup for UF. The Rebels are sound defensively, but haven't been great at forcing turnovers. The Gator defense has largely held dual-threat quarterbacks like Chambliss in check, though he will be the best one they've seen this year. This is the type of game where very few outcomes would be shocking.
