The Florida Gators may have found a new secret weapon for the 2026 college football season with this recent transfer portal addition.

The Florida Gators had a successful start to the 2026 offseason, thanks to the likes of newly-hired head coach Jon Sumrall and his efforts within the transfer portal.

Since joining the program after the conclusion of the 2025 college football season, the former Tulane Green Waves head coach managed to land a total of 25 players in the portal. This includes Florida offensive coordinator Buster Faulkner’s former backup quarterback at Georgia Tech, Aaron Philo, along with a slew of Power Four players this offseason.

However, there is one name that sticks out amongst the rest and is poised to be a terrific playmaker for the Gators during the 2026 season.

Former Auburn Tigers’ wide receiver Eric Singleton Jr. was one of, if not the best, players to sign with Florida from the transfer portal. And despite coming off an underwhelming 2025 season, Singleton is clearly in line to become one of the best wide receivers for the Gators in recent memory.

As a three-star prospect coming out of high school in 2023, Singleton received multiple Power Four offers but would ultimately decide to stay close to home and commit to Georgia Tech. This proved to be an excellent choice for the talented playmaker, as he would go on to record 48 catches for 714 receiving yards and six touchdowns as a freshman.

Following his outstanding first season with the Yellow Jackets, Singleton continued to be a consistent option for Georgia Tech in 2024, finishing the year with a career-high 758 receiving yards and three touchdowns on 56 catches.

His dominant run in the ACC caught the attention of the entire college football landscape, which led to him entering the transfer portal after the season and signing with Auburn.

Unfortunately for Singleton, the success he enjoyed with the Yellow Jacket did not roll over to the Tigers.

In his junior season, the prolific wide receiver saw a slight decrease in his numbers, ending the year with 58 catches for 534 yards and three touchdowns. One of the main reasons for this decline in production was due to the inconsistencies at the quarterback position, as the program had a total of three starting quarterbacks throughout the 2025 season.

Now, after recently signing with the Gators this offseason, Singleton is in an excellent situation to have a bounce-back season in 2026.

With Faulkner taking over Florida’s offense for next season, the speedy weapon has reunited with the offensive coordinator who led to his incredible first two seasons at the college level.

In addition to Singleton being poised for a breakout season with the Gators, his veteran presence could help play a key role in the development of the program’s young wide receivers in rising sophomores Dallas Wilson, TJ Abrams, and Vernell Brown III.
