Florida’s Jadan Baugh Could Make Strong Heisman Statement Against Ole Miss

Florida Gators star running back Jadan Baugh is having an unreal start to the 2026 season, as he's one of the best players in the country.

Baugh has put himself in the conversation for the Heisman Trophy, as he's second in rushing yards with 458 and tied for first in touchdowns with eight. He has been the leader for the Gators on offense as they're off to a 3-0 start.

Florida has moved up to being ranked the 21st-ranked program in the country and will take on the fourth-ranked Ole Miss Rebels in Week 4. 

Baugh has the chance to cement his Heisman case with a strong performance, leading the Gators to an upset win over one of the best teams in the country. A win would catapult Florida up the AP Poll rankings and give them a legitimate shot at the College Football Playoff in their first season under head coach Jon Sumrall.

Baugh has the ability to be a game-wrecker and help Florida pull off a win over the Rebels. Ole Miss' run defense is vulnerable, allowing 159 yards per game on the ground.

The Rebels allowed the LSU Tigers to run for 172 yards and two touchdowns in their win last week. If the Gators can create holes up front, Baugh is poised to have another great game and solidify his place in the Heisman race.

The star running back has been the best player for Florida and is a main reason why they are 3-0 through the first three weeks of the season. He made the decision to return despite the coaching change, and it is paying dividends.

Baugh showcased his talent in his first two seasons in college football, as he rushed for 673 yards and seven touchdowns, along with four receptions for 33 yards and a touchdown in his freshman season.

In his sophomore campaign in 2025, he took on a bigger role, rushing for 1,170 yards and eight touchdowns while catching 33 passes for 210 yards and two touchdowns. 

He is on pace to post career numbers in 2026, with 458 yards and eight touchdowns on the ground in three games.

If Baugh wins the Heisman Trophy, he will become the first Gator to do so since Tim Tebow in 2007. It will be a tough matchup for Florida against Ole Miss, but they can lean on Baugh and have a shot at making a statement.
