The reigning national champions remain unbeaten as they defeat FIU 2-0 and stay undefeated against FIU all time.

No.4 Florida State women’s soccer (2-0-0) remains undefeated after going on the road to defeat Florida International 2-0 in Miami.

Florida State took the first step in defending its crown with a 4-0 victory over Stetson last week. The reigning national champions have now won 35 consecutive regular-season nonconference games. The Seminoles also improved to 8-0-0 all-time against the Panthers. Florida State has shut out its last four opponents going back to the 2025 season.

After losing 14 players from last year's national title team, head coach Brian Pensky has brought in 16 new players, 11 from the transfer portal, and 5 from high school and junior college.

With a revamped roster Pensky started the following players against the Panthers: At forward were SMU senior transfer Nyah Rose, and junior Tennessee transfer Anaiyah Robinson. In the midfield were junior Xavier transfer Sam Erbach, sophomore Nawreen Ahmad, senior Stanford transfer Joelle Jung, freshman Sammy Kazmar, and junior Peyton McGovern. Defensively, Penske started junior Janet Okeke, freshman Bridget Mutipula, and senior Kansas transfer Olivia Page. Iowa transfer Fernanda Mayrink started at goalie for Florida State.

Similar to the Stetson game the Seminoles outshot the Panthers in the first half of the match. Neither team was able to find the net for a goal by halftime.

2025 NCAA Tournament Most Outstanding Offensive Player, Wrianna Hudson, who did not start the game, came off the bench to score at 55:32, with an assist by Robinson, giving Florida State the 1-0 lead. Before scoring Hudson missed an opportunity off a header. For Hudson, this was her first goal of the season, the 25th goal of her career, and her ninth game winner.

Florida State quickly scored its second goal at 56:34 when sophomore forward Nyanya Touray put the ball over the head of the FIU goalie who jumped trying to make the block. This was the third goal of Touray’s college career.

Florida State will be back on August 20 when the Seminoles host their first home game of the season against Florida Atlantic University. Fans are encouraged to wear white as this will be a white-out game. The Owls are currently 0-1-1 after playing the Panthers to a tie in their first game of the season and after getting shut out by the Miami Hurricanes 3-0 this past Sunday.

Kickoff time against the Owls is scheduled for 7 p.m., and the game will be played at the Seminole Soccer Complex in Tallahassee, FL.
