After clinching a historic seventh conference series win on the road, the Seminoles return home to battle rival Miami with an ACC tournament bye and postseason hosting on the line.

Florida State won their seventh ACC series of the season on Sunday, holding the Clemson Tigers to three runs on seven hits to win 6-3 on the road. It was the first time in over a decade that the Seminoles had won seven series in a 10-week conference schedule.

No. 14 Florida State (36-15, 17-10 in ACC) pounded out 15 hits and was led at the plate by the usual suspects:

LF John Stuetzer: 3 hits, double, 2 RBI

C Nathan Cmeyla: 3 hits, HR, 1 RBI

2B Carter McCulley: 2 hits, HR, 2 RBI

RF Brody DeLamielleure: 3 hits, 1 RBI

The Seminoles did leave 15 runners stranded, giving Clemson (30-22, 9-18 in ACC) a glimmer of hope and kept the game closer than it needed to be. In addition, Florida State struck out 12 times and committed four fielding errors, further inhibiting the Seminoles from putting the game away.

Bryson Moore (6-1) got the win for Florida State, behind six strong innings with four strikeouts, one earned run and one walk. Along with Brodie Purcell (3rd save, three strikeouts), the Seminoles kept Clemson's top hitter, Nate Savoie, off the basepaths as Savoie went just 1-for-9 in the series.

The victory was only Florida State’s third on the road at Clemson since 2022, and keeps the Seminoles ranked squarely among the top ten teams in RPI.

Now, Florida State prepares to host in-state rival Miami in the final conference series of the season at Dick Howser Stadium, a venue where the Seminoles own a 25-3 record this season. Florida State owns a 164-137-4 record against the Hurricanes, and first played each other in 1951, an 11-2 loss by Florida State. The Seminoles own a 15-6 record at home vs. Miami, and have defeated Miami in six of the last 10 meetings.

Beginning On Thursday, the prize on the line for the Seminoles will be a first round-bye in the ACC tournament. A sweep of the Hurricanes could make that happen. The last time Florida State won the ACC tournament was 2018.

Beyond that, getting to host a regional in the NCAA tournament is the next goal. But the ultimate goal, the one that all college baseball players dream about and hope to accomplish, is to be a part of the dogpile in America’s heartland as the national champion of college baseball.
