Mississippi standout Eric Vaulx heads to Tallahassee with one goal: finding a home. Mike Norvell must prioritize deep personal bonds to fend off looming SEC recruiting rivals.
Florida State is in full swing preparing for it’s official visit weekend, and their top DL priority, three-star Eric Vaulx just handed Mike Norvell the key to get his commitment.
Vaulx, who will be in Tallahassee this weekend on an official visit, recently spoke about what truly separates a school for him.
“I’m looking forward to bonding with the coach and the players, getting comfortable with them,” Vaulx told Warchant.
“The main goal is, ‘Do I feel like this is home?’ And that’s for all the other schools as well.”
Relationships with coaches is something the Lake Cormorant High School product values above all. Saying that outloud made the entire picture that much easier for the Seminoles, who desperately need more commits this cycle.
Locking in Eric Vaulx a Must for Mike Norvell
If FSU manages to complete his checklist, they will have another commit news in no time. Vaulx himself admitted that.
“For FSU to put themselves on top, they’ll meet my expectations for relationships,” Vaulx said. “I’m big on that.”
The primary person in Vaulx’s recruitment has been Seminoles' defensive line coach Terrance Knighton, who established a good relationship with the DL the last time he visited FSU.
Vaulx even mentioned that Knighton and his bond goes way beyond the gridiron, which are the type of words Norvell’s staff needs to hear right now.
Although the DL is on an official visit, the Seminoles have extended him an offer, there are still other schools that could pull the rug from under FSU’s feet.
Vaulx clearly mentioned that relationship building and each program’s approach to him are what will be the deciding factor in his commitment.
SEC recruiting sharks like Auburn and Tennessee are both on Vaulx’s radar just as much as the Seminoles. With the DL schedules to visit the Missouri Tigers on June 12, followed by one with the Tennessee Volunteers on June 19, and then another one with the Auburn Tigers, either of these schools could easily flip Vaulx with better relationship building.
That said, FSU also has four-star edge Anthony Cavallaro in the 2027 recruiting cycle to pair Vaulx with, which will be used as a selling point for the Mississippi native’s official visit this weekend.
Vaulx is the No. 795 overall prospect and the No. 79 defensive lineman per Rivals' industry rankings. He's also listed as the No. 21 recruit in the state of Mississippi. Norvell’s squad is in no position to let a target like that commit to another school.
