Former Florida quarterback DJ Lagway announced Thursday he will sign with the Baylor Bears.
Lagway spent the weekend at Florida State, but many outside of Tallahassee thought Lagway would end up at LSU with Lane Kiffin, and Baylor was a dark horse.
Lagway is from Willis, Texas, north of Houston.
Lagway is a Baylor legacy and was a five-star recruit out of Willis High School. He rates as the No. 15 overall player and No. 5 quarterback in 247Sports' Transfer Portal Tracker after playing two seasons with the Gators.
Lagway's father, Derek, was a tailback and returner for Baylor from 1997 to 2001. In his four seasons with the Bears, Lagway Sr. rushed for 711 yards and six touchdowns in 40 appearances.
DJ Lagway’s best season saw him come off the bench as a freshman to lead the Gators to a bowl game. However, he struggled as a sophomore after a preseason injury lingered throughout the year. He ended throwing just 14 TDs against 12 interceptions this season.
In 24 games, Lagway has completed 62 percent of his passes for 4,179 yards, 28 touchdowns, and 23 interceptions. He also ran for 237 yards and another score.
The Noles signed former Auburn QB Ashton Daniels on Tuesday, though Lagway still appeared to be innterested in FSU despite Daniels' commitment.
The Noles continue looking at other prospects in the portal, including a junior-college quarterback. They offered to Tre Guerra out of Tyler Junior College in Keller, Texas, according to Nole247's Brendan Sonnone.
Guerra is the No. 58 overall player and the No. 2 quarterback, according to 247Sports' JUCO rankings.
The 6-foot-2, 195-pounder threw for 2,811 yards and 24 TDs with 14 interceptions while completing 62 percent of his passes in 2025. Guerra led the Apaches to an 11-1 record. In seven games in 2024, he threw for 999 yards with five touchdowns and two interceptions.
If Guerra does sign with Florida State, he will be battling for the backup spot behind Daniels.
