Port Charlotte quarterback Logan Flaherty breaks down how authentic coaching bonds and Mike Norvell’s explosive, high-powered offensive evolution fueled his commitment to the rising Seminoles program.
Florida State landed its first Class of 2027 quarterback in Port Charlotte’s Logan Flaherty, and it was an easy commit.
Before his official visit to Doak Campbell, Flaherty essentially gave a cheat code to Norvell, clearly stating that building personal, one-on-one relationships with coaches was his priority.
Safe to say, the FSU staff and most particularly, defensive line coach Terrence Knighton nailed fulfilling Flaherty’s priorities.
During his first official visit as a FSU commit this weekend, Flaherty mentioned how the focus has been on building relationships with coaches.
"Really just continuing to build relationships with the staff,” Flaherty said. “Once again, get up here to Tallahassee. It is a great place. I love Florida State.”
However, while he will continue building the relationships, he has also started building around what was needed at FSU: his role in the offense.

The Port Charlotte product emphasized on how his next goal is to further improve Malzhan’s offense.
Florida State’s 2025 football offense finished ranked No. 6 nationally in total offense, averaging 472.1 yards per game. They posted the nation's most improved offense, topping 400 yards of total offense in nine games and logging 5,665 total yards for the season. The improvement was a direct result of Norvell realizing his mistake, and handing over the play-calling duties to Malzhan.
"I think it's going to be a good mix of a Norvell and Malzahn offense. I don't think it will be just one or just the other. I think they'll kind of mesh them up and do what they like from one, what they like from the other, and take things from both of them,” Flaherty said.
“I think it's going to be an explosive offense, high-powered, and they'll score a lot of points. I think Coach Norvell does a great job. I know people have their different opinions on that, but I don't listen to it. I think he's a great offensive mind. I think now taking what Coach Malzahn has done and done in the past and did do, and meshing that together, it has a chance to be one of the best offenses in the country,” he further added.
Flaherty further added that he is likely to return to FSU on Sunday, June 21st for their second Elite Camp. A return next weekend is also a possibility.
