After losing a top target to a rival, the Seminoles host four-star wideout Ethan Kimmie this weekend, seeking to ignite their 2027 class and secure a weapon.

Port Charlotte three-star QB Logan Flaherty’s commitment was a big milestone in Mike Norvell and staff’s recruiting efforts this offseason.

The Florida State Seminoles are looking to add more of those before the regular season kicks off.

Looking at how things are progressing with Zachary, Louisiana’s 4-star prospect Ethan Kimmie, they might have one sooner than later.

247 Sports’ Chris Lee reports Kimmie heading to Tallahassee this weekend for a visit after extending a scholarship offer on May 15.

Why Florida State Needs to Lock in Ethan Kimmie

One of the biggest holdups in the Seminoles' Class of 2027 is that they have zero wide receiver commitments.

That and Kimmie being a blue-chip prospect are reasons enough for Norvell and OC and WR coach Tim Harris Jr. to absolutely lock in for Kimmie’s visit, and convince him to come play for the Seminoles.

Some stability at the quarterback position with Flaherty’s commitment will be massive leverage in luring Kimmie and more prospects in.

However, FSU isn’t the only program hot on the wideout’s trail. In fact, they’re facing some serious competition to secure a commitment from him from some of the top names in recruiting.

Texas A&M, which ESPN ranked as the No. 1 recruiting class, Syracuse, Arkansas, and Kentucky all have their eyes set and offers extended to Kimme.

The four-star prospect ranks as the No. 310 overall player and the No. 40 wide receiver in the 247 Sports Composite.

He is also the No. 13 player in Louisiana.

Florida State has been in a downward spiral with many of its recruiting targets this offseason as well. Their most recent loss, which also doubles as their most damaging blow, was losing four-star WR Elias Pearl to the Florida Gators this month.

Hopes of getting Pearl to FSU were high, especially after his classmate at Port Charlotte, Flaherty, committed to the Seminoles just a few days before Pearl announced his decision.

Now with the loss, the looming fear of Billy Napier and his staff trying to poach Flaherty, the only QB commit of FSU for 2027, will also bother the Noles staff.

Getting a commitment from a WR, let alone a blue-chip one like Kimmie, will most certainly ease the panic of losing their quarterback.

Kimmie is just visiting for a weekend camp this Sunday, and not an official visit. Depending on how things go this weekend, FSU might or might not lock in an official visit with the LSU WR.
