Florida State quarterback Tommy Castellanos told reporters his injury scare in the first half against Kent State won't be an issue going forward. The senior was seen running and dancing on the sidelines in the second half, backing up his self diagnosis.
Defenders rolled onto Castellanos' leg following a pass play late in the second quarter. Castellanos limped off the field afterward under his own strength. Shortly after he exited the game, play was paused due to lightning in the area. Castellanos again limped under his own strength as he and the team went to the locker room for the break.
Castellanos did not return to the game, but rejoined his teammates on the sidelines shortly after play resumed following the lightning delay. The Seminoles jumped out to a 35-7 lead under Castellanos before going on to win 66-10.
After the game, Castellanos was asked if he was going to be impacted by the injury going forward.
"All good, all good," he said. "Just got rolled up a little bit, but all good. 100 percent still. It was a little scary, but I'm perfect."
Before leaving the game, Castellanos was 10-of-13 passing for 205 yards and one touchdown, in addition to seven rushes for 54 yards and two touchdowns.
Castellanos has been a breakout star for head coach Mike Norvell as FSU has started the season 3-0, rising to No. 7 in the AP Top 25. Freshman quarterback John Sperry went 4-for-5 passing for 64 yards as he replaced the injured Castellanos.
FSU's next game is its ACC opener, on the road at Virginia on Friday, Sept. 26.
