
The Seminoles overall win streak is now at 21 games, and they have a 16 game win streak against Notre Dame. The Noles will look to stay undefeated in the ACC in this three game series.
No. 10 Florida State softball team looks to continue its 21-game win streak as it kicks off a three-game home series against the unranked Notre Dame starting April 2.
Florida State is 32-4 on the season and undefeated within the ACC conference at 9-0. Notre Dame is coming off of a 11-3 midweek win against Western Michigan, and is 16-19 on the season, while going 5-7 within the ACC so far this year.
As a team the garnet and gold are averaging 7.97 runs per game, while batting .363 as a team. The Fighting Irish are averaging 4.62 runs per game, and are batting .292 as a team. FSU ranks first in the ACC in fielding percentage at .985, and third in the country.
AT THE PLATE
The Noles are led by junior shortstop Isa Torres who was recently named the best shortstop in the country by Softball America. Torres also was named National Player of the Week by D1 Softball and Sports illustrated earlier this year, as well as being named the ACC Player of the Week in back-to-back weeks this year. The All American who is yet to commit an error in the field this season is the nation's leader batting .615, and is second in the nation in on-base percentage at .655.
Jaysoni Beachum was also recently honored as the second best third baseman in the nation by Softball American. The junior who is a Tallahassee native is batting .391 with six home runs. Beachum has started all 36 games this year for the Noles, and has only three errors in 104 chances. Beachum is also a perfect 5-for-5 in stolen bases.
During the same week sophomore utility player Shelby McKenzie was named NFCA National Player of the Week and ACC Player of the Week. On the season the standout player is batting .310 with a team leading seven home runs.
In her last four games Irish senior Mickey Winchell has 12 hits, and is currently batting .750 over the four game stretch. Freshman Avery Zachery leads the team batting .410 with 20 RBI.
ON THE MOUND
Jazzy Francik leads the Noles on the mound with a 12-1 record, and 1.70 ERA. The sophomore sensation has already been named ACC Pitcher of the Week twice this year. This season Francik has allowed just 20 earned runs, and has 59 strikeouts.
The Irish have three pitchers that they heavily count on. Senior Micaela Kastor, sophomore Brianne Weiss and junior Kami Kamzik. Kastor is 3-8 with a 3.84 ERA. Weiss is 6-6 on the year with a 4.57 ERA. Kamzik is 5-4 3.63 ERA.
The Noles are 30-7 against the Irish all-time, and have won the last 16 games. The first pitch is scheduled for 6pm.
