
The Noles came back from being down 4-0 to extend its win streak and remain undefeated in ACC play. At 24 wins in a row FSU has the longest win streak in the nation.
Florida State softball remains the hottest team in the nation as the No. 10 Seminoles came from behind to beat Notre Dame 8-4 on Saturday to sweep the Irish.
FSU (35-4, 12-0 ACC) has the longest win streak in the country with 24 in a row, and remains the only team of the Power 4 to remain undefeated in conference play.
After a scoreless first inning, the Irish exploded with four runs in the top of the second inning. The Irish scored on an RBI double, and a home run by Tenley Sweet brought in three runs to cap the inning for the Irish. ND was up 4-0 after the top of the second inning.
The Noles responded with hits by Kennedy Harp and Bella Ruggiero in the bottom of the second, but FSU would leave them on base ending the inning with the Irish up 4-0 at the end of the second inning.
The bottom of the third inning saw All-American shortstop Isa Torres walk, and then advance to third when the Irish committed a throwing error off a Marin Heller hit. Heller stole second, and Torres scored on an Ashtyn Danley single. Danley also stole second and eventually scored, along with Heller, when Anna Hinde would single. FSU would leave the inning down 4-3.
Torres would walk in the fourth inning, and then steal second base. The top shortstop in the country would eventually score off of a Jaysoni Beachum triple. The game is now tied 4-4 after four innings.
The Noles would take the lead in the fifth inning when Danley would hit a double, and then scored on a double by Harp. The garnet and gold were up 5-4 after five innings.
The Noles would get singles by Beachum and Heller in the sixth inning, then they would also score on a single by Hinde. Makenna Sturgis would double, sending Hinde to third base, and Hinde would eventually score from a single by Harp. The Noles left the sixth inning up 8-4, and that would be the final score as the Irish could not generate any more offense.
Jazzy Francik improved to 13-1 on the season and Ashtyn Danley picked up her second save of the season.
The Noles will travel west to take on the Santa Clara Broncos (19-18) on Wednesday, April 8.
