FSU sweeps Georgia Tech and collects three more conference wins to climb atop off the ACC. This sweep of Tech positions the Noles to be the No. 1 seed heading into next months ACC tournament.

It took nine innings, but the No. 13 Florida State softball team (43-7, 18-3 ACC) beat Georgia Tech (29-25, 10-14) 8-5 in Game 3 of the teams' series, completing the sweep in Atlanta.

The three wins by the Noles last weekend bumped FSU to first place in the ACC. With only four games left on their schedule the race for the top seed in next month's ACC tournament is heating up as the Noles are one game ahead of the Duke Blue Devils.

After two scoreless innings the Noles got on the board after two solo home runs by Haley Griggs and Isa Torres at the top of the third innings. The Yellow Jackets would respond in the bottom of the third with four runs on three hits. FSU was down 4-2 going into the fourth inning.

Anna Hinde hit a solo home run to start the 4th inning, and then hit an RBI in the fifth inning scoring Jaysoni Beachum who previously had walked. The score was 4-4 going into the sixth inning.

In the bottom of the sixth Tech would score one run on three hits to take the lead at 4-5.

Anne Hinde stepped up again in the seventh inning and hit a double that scored Angelee Beuno from first base tying the game at 5-5.

Ashtyn Danely put the Noles ahead 6-5 in the ninth inning with a solo home run. With bases loaded Makenna Sturgis hit a hard line drive to the shortstop that scored Ruggiero and McKenzie off of the second Tech error of the inning. Florida State would hold the lead and win the game 8-5 after nine innings.

All American Isa Torres continued to show up big as the junior smacked her 16th home run of the season. Torres now leads the nation in batting at .586, and has hit nine home runs in her last 13 games.

Ashtyn Danley not only hit the game winning home run in the ninth inning, but she also gets credit for the win bringing her record to 11-1 on the season. Danley pitched the last 3.2 innings of the game giving up one run on one hit.

Florida State will travel to Gainesville to take on the No. 8 Florida Gators Tuesday April 28. The Noles upset their arch rival 3-1 in their last game which was played April 22 in Tallahassee. First pitch is 7 p.m. ET at Katie Seashole Pressly Softball Stadium.
