The Seminoles suffered another loss Tuesday with the announcement that WR Duce Robinson out for the season with a torn ACL.

According to published reports, wide receiver Duce Robinson has suffered a torn ACL and is out for the remainder of the season.

The hits just keep on coming for the beleaguered Florida State program. Robinson suffered the injury in the loss to Clemson Saturday.

It is a tough break for a talented receiver who was one of the best to suit up for the Seminoles, and to play in the ACC.

Last season, Robinson posted 1,081 yards and six touchdowns, and earned first-team All-ACC honors.

This season, Robinson gained 438 receiving yards and scored four touchdowns.

Conservative play calling and poor and inconsistent quarterback play are partly to blame. QB Ashton Daniels leads the ACC in interceptions with 11.

Norvell did not utilize the 6-foot-6 Robinson properly, and left his receiving skills idle on the sideline.

Robinson spurned the NFL and returned for another season in Tallahassee to take care of unfinished business.

In January, offensive coordinator Malzahn abruptly retired. In hindsight, that was the beginning of the downfall for the offense in 2026.

Norvell took on the play calling duties this season, and it was a night and day difference. In 2025, the Seminoles led the ACC in total offense, gaining 472 yards per game.

Through eight games this season, the Seminoles are ranked No. 9 in the league at 414 yards per game.

With Robinson now on the shelf, and the season-ending injuries to star running backs Ousmane Kromah and Sam Singleton Jr., the Florida State offense resembles more of an M.A.S.H. unit.

Interim coach Rick Stockstill and interim offensive coordinator Tim Harris Jr. will have to get really creative in their offensive scheme over the final four games.

Thankfully, the Seminoles still have receivers Jayvan Boggs, Michai Danzy, Jasen Lopez, and Devin Carter. All will have to step up and be leaders on the field.

These receivers are all talented enough to make a difference in games when needed.

The question is: can Stockstill and Harris get these talented pass-catchers the ball in space and let them make the plays needed to win?

That will also depend on Daniels being on the top of his game going forward. That is presuming Daniels is still the starting quarterback and Stockstill does not make a change.

Stockstill and Harris really have nothing to lose at this point by trying new things in the offense.

They should rip those conservative pages from the playbook and erase them from the annals of this chaotic season.

Robinson does have a fifth year remaining. As he recovers from this injury, where he goes from here is anyone’s guess.

He will be sorely missed by his teammates and the fans.
