The No. 8 Florida State Seminoles will face the Virginia Cavaliers on Friday, September 26, at 7 pm in Charlottesville, VA. The game will be broadcast nationally on ESPN. It is FSU's first ACC game of the 2025 campaign.
Here is everything you need to know about the Cavs ahead of the pivotal road game for FSU.
2025 results: UVA has had a mixed start to its campaign, going 3-1 overall and 1-1 in ACC play, so far. The Cavs and head coach Tony Elliott rolled over non-conference opponents Coastal Carolina and William & Mary. They lost to NC State 35-31 in week two, despite leading by 14 at halftime. Last week, UVA routed Stanford 48-10.
By The Numbers: UVA has one of the nation's more prolific offenses, averaging 45.5 points per game (11th in the country). The Cavaliers are out-gaining opponents by just over 250 yards per game, 564.5-313.5.
The trio of quarterback Chandler Morris, running back J'Mari Taylor and wide receiver Trell Harris has spearheaded Elliott's mostly-lethal attack. Those three will be the focus for FSU defensive coordinator Tony White on Friday night.
The UVA defense has recorded an impressive 25 tackles for loss, including nine sacks.
Leading Passer: Chandler Morris - 85-of-120 (71% completion), 1,050 yards, eight touchdowns, one interception
Leading Receiver: Trell Harris - 18 receptions, 321 yards, three touchdowns, 17.8 yards per catch
Leading Rusher: J'Mari Taylor - 48 rushes, 298 yards, six touchdowns, 6.2 yards per carry
Leading Tackler: Linebacker Landon Danley, 21 tackles
Game Analysis: FSU passed its Week One test with flying colors, taking down the Alabama Crimson Tide in Tallahassee. This is the first real test for the Seminoles since then - their first road trip and first ACC game of the season.
The Noles offense has been prolific in back-to-back blowouts of lesser competition. The test will be to see if they can keep it up against stiffer competition.
The game also brings an interesting matchup in offensive approaches. UVA's Tony Elliott said this week that his offense is directly inspired by what FSU offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn has been doing for years. With both teams featuring similar game plans and dual-threat quarterbacks, it should be an entertaining student-vs-teacher matchup.
CASTELLANOS CLEARED: FSU's star quarterback left the game against Kent State with an injury, but fortunately, he escaped any serious damage and will be fine for UVA. CLICK HERE
