The FSU Seminoles need to restore their recruiting momentum, which has been lost in recent years. These are the Top 3 prospects they need to land for 2027.
Mike Norvell’s recruiting momentum at Florida State has nearly hit the wall. Locking in some crucial recruits is a desperate need for the Seminoles at this point. With just six commits so far and struggling to make it to the Top 40 list, Norvell needs to lock in the talents that the program has been eye-balling for quite a while.
And it’s not just a few positions and secondary depth that he needs to fix. FSU has gaping holes in its roster that Norvell needs to find an answer for. Both sides of the ball could both use some serious depth. That’s not even touching upon the elephant in the room, a dire QB recruit need.
What’s worse is that FSU is locked in a dogfight with blue-bloods for almost all the prospects they are eyeing. The staffers need to pull out all the stops to lure as many of these prospects as they can to Tallahassee.
Here are 3 prime recruits that the Seminoles have the best shot at locking in:
1: LB/EDGE Frederrick Ford: 4-star
Ford, the four-star OLB/EDGE, fits the 'JACK' linebacker mold perfectly, which has been the foundation of FSU’s defenses. Earning a commitment from him will mean a massive recruiting win. However, a 6’5”, 190-pound Mississippi native defensive weapon like that doesn’t come without an equally massive fight.
Ford has recruiting giants like Louisiana State University, Tennessee, and Ole Miss hot on his trail. Luckily, with his official visit set for June 5-7, the program can count on edge coach Nick Williams to bring him here for a serious look.
2. WR Elias Pearl: 4-star
FSU has a serious shot at the blue-chip WR, as many speed-needy schools await his decision. FSU isn’t exactly struggling with depth as Norvell and Tim Harris Jr. actually went on a tear in the 2026 class, bringing in a massive haul of pass-catchers. However, Pearl is a game changer and can really boost the recruiting cycle.
Devin Carter, Jasen Lopez, Brandon Bennett, and Jonah Winston are already on campus, or are on their way. But even with them, Norvell’s room lacks a clear WR1.
With Pearl, they get that clear WR1. The best part is that the Florida native already has the Seminoles among his Top 6 schools.
Landing this strong 5’11”, 188-pound WR from Port Charlotte will not only give Norvell the clear WR1, but will also put them in the Top 40 recruiting class rankings according to scouting services.
3. QB Logan Flaherty: 3-star
This one couldn’t have been more obvious. The need for a reliable signal-caller of the future in Norvell’s locker room is growing concerning. They have zero quarterback commits for the Class of 2027.
Losing 4-star local product Wonderful "Champ" Monds IV to Notre Dame earlier this month officially put the Noles in a QB crisis.
Flaherty, the 3-star Port Charlotte product, is one of the final hopes remaining for the Noles. Offensive coordinator Tony Tokarz and quarterbacks coach Austin Tucker are personally involved in Flaherty’s recruitment. The Seminoles are going to be sweating this one out until Early National Signing Day.
