Where does FSU softball stand in Week 5? Get a full breakdown of the Seminoles' ACC positioning, ranked matchups, key wins, and what Florida State must do to rise in the national rankings.

For the second straight week, the Florida State softball team has taken a slight dip in the rankings, despite continuing to stack wins in the box score.

Softball America released its Week 5 Top 25 earlier on Monday, slotting FSU at No. 10.

The Seminoles had a perfect 5-0 to move to 17-4 on the year, while extending their win streak to six games. They’ve been dominant at home, boasting a 15-2 mark in Tallahassee, and have yet to test their cleats in a true road environment this season.

The week started with a run-rule rout of Florida A&M, followed by a doubleheader sweep of Florida Gulf Coast and Rutgers during the Unconquered Invitational. The bats stayed hot, the pitching staff pounded the zone, and FSU kept applying pressure inning after inning.

The Seminoles return to the diamond Wednesday to host the Jacksonville before packing their bags for Conway, South Carolina. A three-game set against the Coastal Carolina will give FSU its first taste of true road action -- and a prime opportunity to climb back up the poll by turning solid contact into statement wins.

Noles Look to Climb Rankings after Tough Tests

The Seminoles softball team is still setting the pace in the ACC, holding firm as the conference’s highest-ranked squad. Virginia Tech sits close behind at No. 11, while Virginia (No. 15) and Stanford (No. 21) round out four ACC teams in the Top 25. The conference’s slimmest ranked presence so far this season.

FSU’s four losses? Everyone has come against the nation’s heavy hitters: a split with No. 1 Tennessee, a tight one against No. 2 Texas Tech, and a pair versus No. 4 Alabama. In other words, the Seminoles haven’t been beaten by anyone outside the sport’s elite circle.

At JoAnne Graf Field, they’ve been nearly untouchable, protecting home plate with authority. Coach Lonni Alameda has once again loaded the roster with impact talent, blending power in the lineup with command in the circle.

The crown jewel of the class? Addison DeRoche. The five-star right-hander from Westbrook, Maine, rakes at the plate. DeRoche owns a .507 career batting average with 46 RBI, nine doubles, and 10 home runs in 75 at-bats. She’s struck out 13 times while drawing 27 walks, showcasing an approach that’s as disciplined as it is dangerous. Ranked the No. 6 overall player and No. 4 pitcher nationally by Softball America, and the top prospect out of Maine.

The spotlight will shine often on the Seminoles in 2026. The program announced that 15 games will be televised -- tied for the most nationally with the Oklahoma Sooners softball and Tennessee Lady Volunteers. That’s prime-time company, and proof that FSU remains a marquee draw.
