Florida State University All-American Isa Torres is cementing her legacy as one of the best players in Florida State history after being named National Player of the Week and winning ack-to-back ACC Player of The Week Awards.

D1 Softball named Florida State infielder Isa Torres National Player of the Week. Torres has also been named ACC Player of the Week for the second week in a row.

In her junior year, the 5-foot-6 infielder is cementing what could be a Hall-of-Fame career. It’s been almost a decade since a Seminoles softball player was named ACC Player of the Week in back-to-back weeks. Former FSU star Jessi Warren did it back in 2018.

Since returning from a head injury that caused her to miss one game, the pre-season All American is on a historic run as she has 24 hits in her last 27 plate appearances. This includes 11 hits during her last 11 at bats, and reaching first base in each of her last 18 plate appearances.

In a game earlier this month, at Coastal Carolina, Torres went six for six at the plate setting the FSU single-game hit record. She is the first Division I player since 2017 to record six hits in a seven-inning game. She also had 4 RBI and scored three runs on the occasion.

In the final game of the Coastal series, the shortstop went 3-for-4 at the plate while scoring three times and hitting two RBI.

Last Wednesday against South Alabama, the right-hander went 3-for-3 at the plate while scoring three runs with one RBI. She also hit a home run in this game.

Torres can hit the ball into gaps and she can swing with power. Her patience at the plate combined with her high softball IQ makes her one of the most difficult outs in the sport.

In her last eight games she has eight doubles, two home runs, and has eight walks. She is currently the national batting leader, hitting at a .648 clip. She also rates second in the nation with a .706 on-base percentage.

Florida State recently inducted legendary pitcher Lacey Waldrop into its athletic Hall of Fame. At the pace Torres is on, she is cementing herself as not just one of the best in the conference, but in the whole country.

There should be no controversy when it’s time to make Torres a first-ballot Hall of Famer.
