Mike Norvell fortifies a depleted offensive line with this versatile graduate transfer, bringing 38 consecutive starts and elite pass protection to Tallahassee for a high-stakes 2026 campaign.
Florida State football has signed former Bowling Green offensive tackle Nate Pabst. Pabst is a graduate transfer who will have one year of eligibility remaining.
The 6-foot-5, 315-pound Pabst has played in 42 games for Bowling Green over the last five years and started in the last 38 games. He has seen his PFF grade improve every season and has already earned his MBA from Bowling Green. He has over 2,100 snaps in his career.
Mike Norvell lost all five starting offensive linemen from the 2025 season. Some of his players aged out, while some were part of the 35 players that hit the transfer portal after their five-win season in 2025.
An all-conference performer, Nabst adds starting experience and size, two things that Norvell needs as he heads into a must-win season. Norvell brought in 24 players from the transfer portal including five offensive linemen. Pabst is likely to compete with fellow transfer Paul Bowling from Troy, for the starting right guard spot.
Last season Pabst started in all 12 games for Bowling Green. He showed tremendous versatility by playing 273 plays at right guard, and 493 at right tackle. In 354 pass plays, he only allowed one sack. He was preseason, and post season, 2nd team All MAC in 2025.
In 2024 Pabst started all 13 games for Bowling Green. He started 11 games at right guard, one game at right tackle, and one game at left tackle. Including the 70 snaps on special teams, Pabst had 913 snaps in 2024. He made the All-MAC ACADEMIC team, and honorable mention All-MAC.
In 2023 Pabst started 13 games at right guard while getting 65 snaps at left tackle.
In 2022 Pabst made his season debut against UCLA while seeing time in three games.
2021 was a redshirt year for Pabst and he did not see any action.
Pabst is one of the more experienced players Norvell has signed through the transfer portal. He should be a plug-and-play guy considering his high level of play, and unique versatility.
Pabst is a native of Springdale, OH. He played his high school ball at Archbishop Moeller. Out of high school, he had offers from: Kent St, Miami (OH), Ball St, and Akron. He also competed in Rugby and was a three-year letterman in football.
Florida State starts training camp on July 30 in Tallahassee. They open the season on August 29 at home against New Mexico St.
