FSU Softball crushes Boston College to secure a share of the ACC title. Game three determines sole ownership and the coveted No. 1 seed.

Ashtyn Danley pitched her first complete game shutout Saturday to help No. 10 Florida State softball defeat Boston College 8-0 in six innings for a run-rule victory at Harrington Athletics Village in Boston.

The win guarantees FSU (44-8, 20-3 ACC)  a share of the ACC regular season title and keeps them on track to secure the No. 1 seed in this month's ACC tournament. Danley had a no-hitter until the fifth inning when Boston College (13-37, 3-20) recorded its first hit of the series.

Bella Ruggiero put the Noles on the board hitting a two RBI single scoring Jaysoni Beachum who had previously walked, and Ashtyn Danley who had also singled prior. Noles left the first inning up 2-0.

After a scoreless second inning All-American Isa Torres reached on an error before Jaysoni Beachum brought her home blasting a two run homer in the third. FSU was up 4-0 after three innings.

Hayley Griggs hit a two-run home run bringing home Shelby McKenzie who had previously drawn a walk.

Later in the inning, Tores and Beachum hit back-to-back doubles with Torres scoring from Beachum’s double. For Torres and Beachum it was their 17th and 10th double of the season respectively. The Noles led 7-0 after four innings.

Griggs singled in the sixth, and was later driven home when Makenna Sturgis hit an RBI double that put the Noles up 8-0, paving the way for a run-rule victory by the garnet and gold.

Utility player Ashtyn Danley was named ACC Pitcher of the Week for her efforts against Georgia Tech last week.

She will probably battle her own teammate Jazzy Francik for the same honors this week.

Francik threw a complete game shutout in game one, and Danley threw a complete game shutout giving up only three hits while striking out ten Eagles. Danley went 2-for-4 at the plate and scored twice. She is 12-1 on the mound this season.

Jaysoni Beachum went 2-for-2 and has successfully reached base in 41 conservative games. The All American third baseman had three RBI for the Noles. Her home run gives her 35 for her career and she is now eighth all-time at FSU.

Game three of this series is the biggest game of the year for FSU because it’s for the sole right to claim the regular season ACC Championship, and will make the Noles the No. 1 seed in this month's ACC tournament.

First pitch is 5 p.m. at Harrington Athletics Village.
