Florida State football opened the door for nearly a dozen recruits to check out the Seminoles' first 2026 spring practice.
A talent nearing 20 scholarship offers was among the visitors and revealed FSU is in his top five.
Keyon Standifer of Athens Academy in Athens, Ga., told Chris Nee of Noles247 that his visit to Tallahassee went great. He came away impressed by how fierce the Seminoles practice.
"I loved the intensity of all the coaches," Standifer said to Nee. "What I took from practice is coach (Tim Harris) move all his wide receivers around. Like they aren't just playing one position, like Devin [Carter] is playing slot and outside. Basically all of his receivers are playing outside and slot."
He especially has been interacted with the wide receivers coach turned offensive coordinator. While head coach Mike Norvell has say with the play calling, Harris is still able to implement his own blueprints to the offense.
Harris is helping win over the 5-foot-9 wide receiver who's delivered back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons. Standifer is fresh off racking up 1,608 yards during his junior season which captured more notice on the recruiting trail.
Harris is running point of Standifer's recruitment and attempting to get Florida State to rise above Tennessee, Auburn, Georgia Tech and Georgia State -- the other four comprising his top five list. He committed early to Georgia Tech but eventually reopened his recruiting process.
But what's one area Harris took a liking on regarding Standifer? The Class of 2027 wide receiver shared what the new OC liked the most about his game.
"My speed," Standifer said. "He said I could do everything on the field with my route running, running past defenders. I also can do punt returns."
Sounds like Harris is envisioning using Standifer as a versatile weapon who's not just limited to lining up as an inside wide receiver. He looks more built for a chess piece role on offense where Harris/Norvell can move him around and create mismatches.
Next comes setting up an official visit with FSU for later down the road.
"I haven't scheduled my official visit yet, but they are in my Top 5," Standifer said.
Standifer landed some big name offers before revealing his short list involving FSU. Alabama and even national champion Indiana offered him early. But Standifer is focusing on the aforementioned five programs including FSU.
