Florida State head coach Mike Norvell’s recruiting Class of 2027 is catching a serious heater with commits pouring in over the last two weeks.
The offseason was going too slowly, recruiting-wise, for the Seminoles. However, the staff's efforts didn’t slow down. Now, those same efforts are finally paying off their dividends as the Seminoles locked in their 10th commit in the 2027 Class on Sunday.
Roswell, Georgia, three-star EDGE Jaxson Holly committed to the Florida State Seminoles right after his official visit this weekend. It was a massive recruiting battle with the Auburn Tigers that the Seminoles came out on top of.
Jaxson Holly Reveals Why He Picked FSU
Speaking to On3 after announcing his decision, Holly revealed what made him pick Florida State over the Tigers.
“I think just the coaches loving me. They want me the most,” Holly said. “I could see myself here playing early, freshman year, so that’s going to be fun. I think we’re going to bring this place back to what it was.”
According to the Rivals Industry Ranking, Holly is the 63rd-best edge in the country and the 73rd-ranked prospect in Georgia.
At 6-4, 230 pounds, Holly is a top 100 prospect at his position nationally and in his home state. In 2025, Holly posted 32 tackles, seven tackles for loss, two sacks, 12 quarterback pressures, a forced fumble, and two pass breakups in only five games.
He also mentioned how he loved sharing the news with current FSU pass-rusher Rylan Kennedy, who hosted him on the visit.
“He was real hyped,” Holly said of Kennedy. “He was like, ‘Yep, you’re gonna love this place.'”
Jaxson Holly’s connection with Nick Williams Goes Way Back
Other than Kennedy, position coach Nick Williams served as Holly’s primary point of contact, a major catalyst behind his commitment.
Holly has known Williams since his time at Syracuse. After arriving at FSU in December last year, Williams immediately offered Holly, after which he took his first-ever visit to Florida State with his parents in April 2026.
"Coach Nick, he offered me back at Syracuse, came here, offered me," Holly added. "That was great seeing him, Coach Norvell. Just loved being here. It was a great, great day."
Ever since his first visit, Williams has been incredibly clear about his expectations of Holly and the role he will be playing, which was another reason making Holly’s choice obvious.
"My work ethic. My passion for the game. Just how I compete. My smarts, my IQ. Just my love for the game, it like fits perfect with him," Holly said.
"I think FSU first," Holly said back in April, "Showing the most love. Family. It has been great."
The pecking order he mapped out back then held when the dust finally settled.
