The Seminoles surged ahead for elite 2027 prospect Ta’Shawn Poole after a successful official visit and a canceled trip to Miami signaled a major recruiting shift.
The Florida State Seminoles are locked in their final stretch of recruiting efforts in June, and they received an incredibly optimistic update on a 4-star defensive back target.
Noles247’s Brendan Sonnone put in a crystal ball prediction in favor of Florida State for Class of 2027 for four-star defensive back Ta’Shawn Poole, who is the 64th-best prospect in the 247Sports Composite rankings.
Ranked the No. 85 prospect in the Top247 for 2027 and is the No. 4 player at WR position cancelled his scheduled visit to Miami for next weekend because it seems like he has already made up his mind. While he is yet to announce a proper date for his announcement, the Seminoles and other teams where he is a target can expect a late June or early July decision.
One of the primary factors in his decision would be his family and prep coaches' opinion. Luckily for Mike Norvell, Poole’s family has already visited FSU when the program offered him last year.
Tennessee Volunteers a Team To Keep an Eye Out for
The Tennessee Vols are the primary rivals of FSU in the recruiting race for the 2027 four-star safety. Poole already took an official visit to Tallahassee this weekend with FSU and the Vols as his top schools.
What’s important for Poole, as he mentioned in his comments post-official visit, is how early he gets to see the field in his future program. The 6-foot-2, 185-pounder discussed what his role would be with the Seminoles, and it was exactly what he wanted to hear as he sees himself as a fit in their 3-3-5 scheme.
" They showed me the position and where I fit at in the scheme, and I think I could be a great leader for the team and just play my role," Poole said.
He also spoke highly of his time with FSU's coaching staff, including Mike Norvell and defensive backs coach Evan Cooper.
" The loyalty and the consistency that they have as all the coaching, like it's, every day is the same with them," Poole said.
As a junior at Howard High School, Poole thrived as a free safety. He produced 37 tackles, two tackles for loss, two interceptions, and one sack. Poole also contributed on offense with 30 receptions for 454 yards and seven touchdowns, plus he added 200 rushing yards and four more scores.
