Harvey isn't just a talented edge rusher, he's the son of a former college football star and NFL defensive lineman FSU is pursuing.

Florida State football hasn't let its foot off the pedal in pursuing a talented four-star edge rusher.

Let alone a talent hailing from an NFL household, plus raised by a father who suited up for a rival.

Santana Harvey of Lakeland High told Noles247 that the Seminoles remain in pursuit for his services. The Class of 2027 prospect is the son of Derrick Harvey, who played for Urban Meyer at Florida from 2005 to 2007 including winning the national title in the latter season. The elder Harvey later played for the Jacksonville Jaguars, Denver Broncos and Cincinnati Bengals throughout his pro career.

But FSU is doing everything in its power to add FSU representation in its household. The younger Harvey even sees positive possibilities if he plays for the hated CFB enemy of his father.

"Florida State -- the opportunity to stay home, and why not be able to have the opportunity to do it four hours away instead of a couple hours away, a couple days away from other states," he told Zach Blostein of Noles247.

Here's the additional leverage the Noles have for Harvey: FSU is the lone in-state school pursuing him heavily on the recruiting trail.

Even better for head coach Mike Norvell and company? The Noles will host Harvey on a visit soon, with Harvey taking in Tallahassee for June 5-7.

While FSU has the upper hand among the Sunshine State universities, Harvey still has plenty of other suitors. And the Noles face competition from the Atlantic Coast Conference here.

Clemson is one remaining in the picture for Harvey, which he explained to Blostein.

"It's always great at Clemson," Harvey said. "They have a great family, great coaching staff, great culture. I feel like if I was a part of that, or possibly a part of that, I could make a huge impact early."

He also spoke highly of one outside of the ACC, but representing the conference his dad played in the Southeastern Conference.

"Kentucky -- the blueprint that they showed me with the new coaching staff and everything that's going with the program and they're trying to revamp the program," he said. "I believe in coach Will Stein's plan and I feel like I could possibly be a part of that as well."

He cites Notre Dame as one more aggressively courting him.

"I feel like if I go to Notre Dame, I can make a big impact as a freshman and really be able to leave my mark in South Bend," Harvey said.

But again, FSU remains in a strong position ahead of the 6-foot-5, 220-pounder's decision.
