We are five days from the start of the Florida State baseball season. Coming off a 42-16 record as the runners-up in the ACC and a No. 16 final ranking, the Seminoles lost to Oregon State in the Corvallis super regional. But Florida State will be talented again this season with a loaded roster, led by highly decorated first baseman Myles Bailey.
A 2026 second-team preseason All-American, Bailey is a Top 100 MLB prospect, landing at No. 95 on that list.
As a freshman in 2025, Bailey batted .327 and hit 19 home runs (No. 2 in the ACC) and was second on the team with 56 runs batted in. He also posted a .990 fielding percentage and had eight game winning hits. Bailey posted a .411 on-base percentage and ranked No. 7 in the ACC with a .663 slugging percentage.
In 202 at-bats for the Seminoles last season, Bailey produced the following:
· 66 hits
· 11 doubles
· 50 runs scored
· 134 total bases
· 32 walks
· 4 stolen bases
Baseball America, D1 Baseball and Perfect Game all named Bailey to their 2025 Freshman All-American teams, FSU’s first since 2022 and the first since 2019 to be named to all three freshman All-American teams.
For his production and his potential, Bailey is ranked as the No. 1 first baseman in college baseball ahead of the 2026 season, according to D1 Baseball.
As a freshman last season, he was ranked as the No. 32 first baseman, which shows how much he has developed and elevated his game to the collegiate level.
In his senior season at Lincoln High School in Tallahassee, Bailey was a 2-time MVP. He hit.329 with seven home runs and 22 RBIs. He also collected 27 hits with 13 singles, six doubles and one triple.
Bailey posted .533 on-base percentage, 1.216 OPS and .683 slugging percentage. And, he is a chip off the old block as his father, Kevin, played baseball at Florida A&M.
In the loss to Oregon State in the super regional, Bailey logged three hits, one home run, two RBI and scored two runs. Against Clemson, Bailey collected five hits, one HR, and five RBIs in an FSU victory.
Coach Link Jarrett’s Seminoles got off to hot start last season, winning 15 straight games before falling to in-state rival Florida. Hometown product Bailey is looking to lead his team back to Omaha and the College World Series.
The No. 16 Seminoles open the 2026 season on Friday, Feb. 13 against James Madison.
