Blue-chip recruit Izayah Vickers breaks down Coach Blue Adams’ intense teaching style as the Seminoles battle top national programs to keep the elite Tallahassee defender at home.
Mike Norvell is just getting his recruiting groove on in Tallahassee, and every official visit weekend brings about plenty of recruits to the Doak Campbell.
Among the many potential targets that visited FSU, one was in-state 2028 cornerback Izayah Vickers, who made his presence known during the event.
A Florida State University School prospect, Vickers is a 5-foot-11, 180-pounder who is ranked as the No. 100 recruit in the nation and the No. 11 cornerback according to 247Sports composite rankings. In the state of Florida, he's the No. 15 prospect.
Being the in-state school that recently bagged plenty of prospects, the Seminoles are now making progress with building their Class of 2028 as well.
Norvell’s Class of 2027 heavily focuses on building a strong defensive foundation; their Class of 2028 is also continuing to build on the same defensive-heavy strategy.
Izayah Vickers Opens Up About FSU
And the 4-star CB now seems a high-priority target for the Seminoles.
The Seminoles hosted Vicklers this weekend, and he shared his experience post-visit.
"It was great, got some great quality work in. Really enjoyed the weekend," Vickers said about FSU.
What stood out immediately to Vickers was Adams’ heavy emphasis on the mental side of the position—building a high football IQ, mastering situational awareness, and staying locked in mentally on every single snap. Adams is highly regarded as a master teacher who forces his corners to perfect their mechanics rather than just relying on raw athleticism.
"Coach Blue Adams' intensity stands out," said Vickers. "Even for the smallest detail, he'll make you redo a rep."
As a junior, Vickers was a big-time performer at Florida State University High School in Tallahassee. He produced 65 tackles, three tackles for loss, seven pass breakups, and three fumble recoveries. Vickers also plays some safety as well.
After the Seminoles offered him last June during their previous camp, Vickers took trips to Doak Campbell for three games during the 2025 season on campus, besides another trip in March.
FSU is already at the top of his list, and Norvell can take advantage of him being an in-state blue-chip prospect and continue to keep their foot on the gas.
However, they need to act quickly since other top schools like Clemson, Notre Dame, Arkansas, and Florida have all already offered the cornerback.
