Florida State officially lost Mandrell and Darryll Desir. One insider shared how things faltered between both parties and who the early transfer suitors are.

One of the longstanding potential transfer portal decisions came to a head on Wednesday -- as Florida State officially loses star twins Mandrell and Darryll Desir.

Their names first surfaced on the portal radar on Jan. 4, two days after the NCAA Transfer Portal window officially opened. However, it wasn't confirmed at the time if the defensive linemen even entered.

Now, multiple reports have revealed the agency representing the brothers LAA Sports Entertainment confirmed the Desirs are officially portal entries.

But now comes what became the final tipping point for both Florida State and the defensive linemen?

Insider shares 'sticking point' involving both parties

Seminoles inside for 247Sports Brendan Sonnone revealed some nuggets via a colleague of his that dove into what went down between both the FSU side of things and the twins.

"Per reporting by Noles247's Zach Blostein, the Desirs and FSU re-negotiated their initial rookie contracts ahead of the 2025 campaign after the two continually impressed in the spring and summer," Sonnone began. "The two sides came to financial terms multiple times during the re-re-negotiation process, with buyout terms being a sticking point that seemingly halted a deal from being reached officially before this step of the process."

Sounds like the buyout terms helped persuade the departure. Their situation further exemplifies the new state of college football -- one dominated by agencies representing players and NIL deals to ensure player compensation.

Are there suitors lined up for the Desir twins?

The brothers are bound to garner hefty attention now that they're free to look into other places. Both combined for 53 tackles in the FSU defensive line rotation.

Sonnone, though, revealed one potential suitor already surfacing.

"The Desirs are now free to take official visits on Thursday once the dead period ends. Ohio State is believed to be a suitor," he said.

The Buckeyes already have one famed FSU star on board in safety Earl Little Jr. Perhaps the standout rover will make a push to Ryan Day and Buckeyes defensive coordinator Matt Patricia to bring both on board. Especially after watching how Indiana and Miami gashed the OSU run defense in consecutive losses that ended Ohio State's national championship pursuit.

But LSU is rumored to be another possibility out the gate now that the Desirs have entered the portal.
