Florida State will host Alabama edge rusher Noah Carter this weekend, according to multiple reports.
Carter just completed his second year with the Crimson Tide. The 6-foot-4, 243-pound redshirt freshman saw snaps in about a dozen games, rotating into the outside linebacker position.
This season, Carter had eight tackles, and he finishes with 10 total in his two seasons with the Crimson Tide.
Coming out of high school, Carter was a four-star recruit out of Peoria, Arizona. He committed to Alabama in the 2024 class and saw action in three games, but only registered two tackles as a freshman. Carter saw more action this year for the Tide because of injuries.
The Noles have already landed former Texas A&M edge Rylan Kennedy on Tuesday, along with several other players in the portal Tuesday.
The FSU defense got off to a fast start, holding their first three opponents under 20 points, including in their upset victory over then-No. 8 Alabama, whom they hold to 17 points.
But against Virginia in Week 4, everything started to fall apart. The Noles fell to the Cavaliers 46-38 in double overtime, then ran their losing streak to four games and seven of nine overall.
In most of those losses, the defense didn’t play that badly at times, but they also didn’t do enough to hold teams off when the offense needed them to. Getting Carter would be a coup for the Seminoles and would add depth at that position.
Carter had committed to the Washington Huskies before deciding to follow Bama head coach Kalen DeBoer to Tuscaloosa in 2024.
DeBoer talked about how impressed he was with the then four-star athlete.
"There's just a business-like mentality about him," DeBoer said at the time. "Physically, he's just taken those next steps.
"His production, he's in the right spot. He's able to hold his own in matchups where the physicality has to take place. He's worked hard in the offseason to get his body built up."
Hopefully, the Noles' coaching staff can close the deal.
