Seminoles Find The Fountain of Youth at Wide Receiver

Despite a defensive collapse against Louisville, freshman standout Micahi Danzy ignited the Seminoles' offense with two touchdowns, which included a stunning one-handed grab.

The Florida State Seminoles had an ACC college football showdown Friday night, which didn't go as the FSU faithful would have hoped.

The Seminoles lost 44-20, but their offense was able to carry its own weight.

The Seminoles' offense did well, especially in the passing game, with 209 yards. A major part of that was freshman wide receiver Micahi Danzy.

Danzy had four catches for 50 yards and two touchdowns. He caught his first touchdown late in the first quarter on a seam route, catching the ball with one hand and running for the 25-yard score.

His second score was in the fourth quarter, a two-yard hitch that gave the Seminoles their final touchdown.

Danzy got open often, especially on in-breaking routes. He had a lot of opportunities, but did drop a pass on a third-down crossing route. It was an accurate pass, but he couldn't hold on. Still, he was able to create constant separation from defenders and get through their coverage.

He also had a play in the third quarter on a deep route, and it was broken up by the defender. He had an acrobatic catch on a third-and-four late in the third quarter, where he caught the pass but it was ruled incomplete because his foot went out of bounds. Nonetheless, he displayed his athleticism for fans to see. Other than the few drops, Danzy had a good game overall. He also averaged 12.5 yards per catch.

He’s showing that he can be a reliable target for their quarterback Ashton Daniels. Danzy was targeted quite a bit and that could be seen as a vote of confidence from not only the quarterback but the offensive coordinator. He can be someone that they trust more going forward in the season.

Danzy was a former 4-star recruit in the class of 2024, enrolling that June. In his freshman season, he only played in four games and redshirted. Last year, he had 27 catches for 571 yards in 12 games, including three rushing touchdowns. So far this year, he has 19 catches for 293 yards and two touchdowns. Danzy is starting to get more acclimated to the offense and making plays. It's been a good year for him.

The rest of the offense did well against Louisville other than stalled drives. Quarterback Ashton Daniels went 21/37 for 209 yards and two touchdowns and one interception. Nine different players caught a pass. Their ground game was good as usual with running back Ousmane Kromah rushing for 88 yards on 19 carries, averaging 4.6 yards. Daniels had a rushing touchdown of his own and 45 yards on the ground.

The Seminoles are currently 3-3 and they will face the No.3 ranked Miami Hurricanes on Saturday, October 17th.
