
FSU bounced back from being swept against Stanford, to sweeping the Tar Heels last weekend. Now the No. 12 Noles must get ready to face their arch enemy the Florida Gators who are 11-0 this year against teams from the Sunshine State.
No. 12 Florida State softball (39-7, 15-3 ACC) will host its archrival, the No. 7 Florida Gators (43-6, 16-5 SEC), on Wednesday in a matchup of two of the best teams in the country.
The game starts at 6 p.m. (ET) and will be played at Jo Anne Graf Field in Tallahassee.
Last Time Out
The Noles swept North Carolina last weekend. Chapel Hill was averaging 8.57 runs per game, which was the most in the ACC, but managed only seven runs over three games against FSU.
Seminoles to Watch
Isa Torres has twice been named ACC Player of the Week, as well as D1 Softball/Sports Illustrated National Player of the Week. Torres leads the nation with a .539 batting average, and has 11 home runs this season. Softball America listed her as the best shortstop in the country as she is yet to commit an error in the field this year.
All American Jaysoni Beachum has reached base in 34 consecutive games. She has 34 home runs in her career, and seven this year while batting .389. Softball America has her listed as the second-best third baseman in the country.
Ashtyn Danley is a utility player who has a 2.56 ERA, while hitting seven home runs this year with a .356 BA. Last weekend against UNC, she had five RBI and capped the series with a three-run homer in the finale. Danley is 40-9 for her career on the mound.
Jazzy Francik has been named ACC Pitcher of the Week twice this season. Francik is already at 16 wins for the season and boasts a 2.03 ERA.
Gators to Watch
With 72 wins for her career, Keagan Rothrock is the ace for the Gators. The All American started this season pitching 31.2 innings without giving up an earned run. The junior was also the SEC Freshman of the Year in 2024.
Taylor Shumaker was the 2025 National Freshman of the Year last season. She faces off tonight against FSU’s Jaysoni Beachum, who won the same award in 2024. Shumaker is batting .475 with 14 homers this year.
Jocelyn Erickson leads the Gators with 19 home runs and 67 RBI.
Florida State-Florida Series
FSU is 30-2 at home this year, while Florida is 11-0 against in-state opponents. FSU has won seven of the last eight games against the Gators, while UF has the series edge at 29-24. In their last meeting on April 2, 2025, the Noles shut out the Gators 4-0.
This will be the last regular-season home game for the Seminoles.
