Isa Torres showed up big in this rivalry game as the All American blasted two home runs to secure the win versus the No. 8 Florida Gators. Torres who has been the engine behind FSU's magical season continues to rise the occasion and help get the Noles ready for postseason play.

No. 13 Florida State defeated in-state rival Florida 3-1 on Wednesday at Jo Anne Graf Field in Tallahassee.

The Gators went into this game undefeated at 11-0 against teams from Florida this season, but are 1-8 in their last nine games  against the Noles.

For Florida State (40-7, 15-3 ACC) this was a key win against a highly ranked team as the Noles are trying to position themselves for a top seed in the upcoming ACC Tournament.

The record crowd saw this game start fast as Florida’s lead off batter Taylor Shumaker took the second pitch of the game the distance, putting the Gators up 1-0 after the top of the first. FSU responded quickly as All American Isa Torres also hit a home run over center field wall tying the game 1-1 after one inning.

Torres continued to add to a record breaking season as Softball America’s No.1 rated short stop in the nation delivered a second home run in the bottom of the third inning for her third multi-home run game of the season, putting garnet and gold up 2-0 after three innings.

The Noles added another run in the fourth inning when Kennedy Harp scored off a Shelby McKenzie single putting the Noles up 3-1, and that was the final score of the ball game.

Torres, who earlier this year was named National Player of the Week by D1 Softball and Sports Illustrated, as well as being named ACC Player of the Week in consecutive weeks went 2-for-4 in this game, and still leads the nation in batting average at .539. Torres, who is yet to commit an error in the field, set an NCAA record this season when she recorded a hit in 16 consecutive at-bats.

FSU pitching was strong against Florida’s elite offense. Starting pitcher and two-time ACC Pitcher of the Week Jazzy Francik pitched three innings, giving up one run and five hits. Ashtyn Danley relieved Francik and pitched four scoreless innings to earn the win for Florida State.

The Garnet and Gold will travel to Atlanta for a three-game series against unranked Georgia Tech (29-23, 10-11).

The first game is Friday, with the first pitch scheduled for 6 p.m. ET.

The second game will take place Saturday, starting at 5 p.m., and the series will wrap up Sunday, starting at 1 p.m.
