The losses may leave him overlooked, but Florida State receiver Duce Robinson is quietly having one of the best seasons by any pass catcher in college football.
The 6-foot-6 junior and Seminole legacy player is on track to top 1,000 yards in 2025, even with the recent struggles of FSU’s offense. With four touchdowns and an impressive 18.9 yards per catch, Robinson would likely be a national name if he were starring for a playoff contender.
While FSU looked the part of one in September, the Seminoles have since cratered to 4-5 overall. Those losses, however, haven’t stopped Robinson from performing. Even in a game where FSU only managed 10 points – Saturday’s 24-10 loss at Clemson – Robinson still racked up 124 yards on nine receptions. And that’s after missing out by millimeters on what would have been a SportsCenter Top 10-worthy touchdown catch that was ultimately ruled incomplete after review.
For the season, Robinson has 43 catches for 813 yards, good for 90.3 yards per game and second place in the ACC by barely one yard. His 18.9 yards per reception is No. 1 in the ACC among receivers with at least 25 receptions, and his 813 yards total is just 11 shy of being tops in the conference. His best of 82 yards is also the longest catch by any ACC player this year.
In an offense that runs the ball nearly twice as often as it passes, Robinson is still responsible for a full 34 percent of FSU’s yardage production.
Regardless of the results in the wins and losses columns, Robinson is having an all-time season at a school known for its elite receivers. From Peter Warrick to Keon Coleman, the lineage runs deep. Robinson is making his case to be near the top of that list.
In fact, Robinson has already surpassed Coleman’s total of 658 yards in his 2023 first-team All-American campaign. He’s also on pace to eclipse Warrick’s total of 934 yards during the 1999 National Championship campaign. To be fair to Warrick, however, he only played in nine games that year.

All of this to say: Robinson is having a banner season for Florida State in 2025. It can be hard for fans to see the bright spots when the overall results are so grim, but Robinson’s performance this year is worthy of both attention and celebration.
With his combination of size, speed, reliable hands, and deep-threat capability, Robinson is likely to be starring for an NFL team within the next few years. He is considered a potential first round pick in the next NFL Draft if he keeps up the production and decides to declare.
If he does go on to stardom in the pros, it may be bittersweet for FSU fans. What could have been if he had been in Tallahassee his full career? And more to this year’s theme, there may be regret that the Seminoles didn’t win more while they had the star receiver on campus.
No matter what the future holds for Robinson, he’s one of the country’s best receivers in the present. Now, he has at least three more games to add to his legacy in Garnet and Gold.
